A bit of the old with a bit of the new. We have posted our February meeting minutes, and they can be found via the menu, or this Meeting Minutes link. Our next meeting will be the second Thursday of March, the 14th, at 19:00 EST, please contact us, if you would like to attend.
Since then we have been notified of our new ARES/ACS Emergency Coordinator for Thunder Bay, Eric Todd VE3XET, after Brad Harris VE3MXJ stepped down. We thank Brad for his past efforts and welcome Eric to the position.
I would also like to extend a reminder of thanks to Bruce Clements VE3BV, who attended our meeting this month. I wrote this letter that was printed in The Canadian Amateur Magazine (TCA), by the Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC), last April.

This photo is of a Presentation made on April 25th, 2023 to Bruce Clements VE3BV who put in great effort to provide
technical assistance to the Lakehead Amateur Radio Club.
Bruce assisted the club with Technical expertise for the
design and implementation of a new VHF Repeater located
at an elevated location here in the city. The VHF Repeater
System has an interface on it that allows Ham Operators to
contact other Radio Operators worldwide from the comfort
of their vehicle or home.
This technology called Allstarlink and universally known as Radio over Internet Protocol (RoIP) links up Thunder Bay with the rest of the network which was a void not filled, we were the big gap on the map. There are over 300 similar sites in the USA alone and a smaller number in Canada. Bruce who resides in Parry Sound Ontario assisted the club remotely via the network and telephone. He has been a Motorola Technician for over 40 years and then became the Superintendent of the Toronto EMS Communications System. Bruce was presented with an accolade letter and gift from the
President of the Lakehead Amateur Radio Club.
